Elise serves as dialect coach for Nashua Theatre Guild's "The Elephant Man"

The Nashua Theatre Guild's April 2009 production of The Elephant Man, staged at the Court Street Theatre in Nashua, features plenty of roles with accents.  From the crisp diction of the upper-crust doctor to the cockney of the hospital orderlies, quite a full range of English accents are represented.

A lifelong Anglophile who lived briefly in the UK as a child, Elise was pleased to serve as dialect coach for the cast, working under the direction of Michael Curtiss.  A pleasure!

Collaboration with singer/songwriter Enid Ames

Elise has been in rehearsals with singer/songwriter Enid Ames (winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest), working towards playing some concert dates, the first of which will be 2/14/09 at the Odonata Ecovillage in Newbury, Massachusetts.

If you have not had the pleasure of hearing Enid Ames share her beautiful voice and inspiring music, you are in for a special treat for your heart this Valentine's evening.

Imagine the voice of an angel, whose songs "Play Divine", "Everything Is As It Should Be", "One Voice" are offered with such clarity and joyful being, the spirit is healed and uplifted while the senses delight ! Enid will be accompanied by Elise MacDonald on flute & piano. Interspersed between songs will be readings of Rumi's poetry.

Elise will be accompanying Enid on piano and flute.  Here's a clip of Elise (on flute) on the track Listen from Enid's album Your Golden Heart.

BARE: The Musical

I'll be playing flute for The Phoenix Academy's production of BARE: The Musical at the Phoenix Black Box Theatre in Nashua in December.

Performance Times:

December 12, 13, 19, and 20 at 8 pm.
Dec 20 matinee at 2 pm

A synopsis:

Bare explores the pains and pleasures of five high school seniors at a co-ed Catholic boarding school as they struggle to grow up in these complicated, conflicted, contemporary times. Each of them question where they are in their lives. Answers are sought in the church confessional and in less formal venues including a stage, a rave, and a well-locked dorm room."
